Abuse and Crisis Helplines

If you have worked with me before and finished therapy in good standing, and find yourself distressed, please make contact by email as soon as possible (not text, or phone). If psychotherapy is appropriate then I will consider it my priority to make space for us to meet, to re-assess any new needs or struggles you are having and to see what we can do.

However, whilst psychotherapy can be an effective means of developing the life skills necessary for overcoming past suffering, for protecting ourselves, and meeting our needs in all kinds of relationships.  it should not be considered crisis intervention or for managing periods of volatile suicidal intent.

The following is a list of UK and International helplines that may be useful to people in gaining immediate advice and support during crisis.

If you have a history of self-harm or suicidal behaviour, or express suicidal intent or ideation during therapy it is important to organise a support plan with you at the assessment stage, depending on the level of your intent.  If you are in and out of crisis or have strong suicidal intent now it is important to seek crisis support early, as psychotherapy is not an appropriate service for life-threatening states of crisis.
